What we see is not out there in the world, even if that is where the signals come from. What we see is constructed in our heads, out of what we select from and project over those signals. We dream the world outside ourselves the way we dream when we sleep, the mechanism is the same. The difference is that our world dream is painted on the bones of reality, those signals from the unknown other. And if our selections and projections deviate too far we will crash into the hard bones of the real, we will learn an evolutionary lesson.
But most of us live far away from the bones of necessity. We have carved out a small area of the dream to hide in. We have allowed our fear to create an imaginary cage about ourselves. We drew a line in the sand that at first we dared not cross and now believe that we can not cross. We forget that our world is mostly dream. We forget there is room to move, to dance.
